BROKEN HILL BASE HOSPITAL

• Completion 80 hours rural placement in Far Western Local Health District.
• Completed rotations in Midwifery Group Practice (MGP), Maternity Unit, Midwifery in the Home and Community and Family Health Centre.
• Immersed in Aboriginal culture and health practice by working with Maari Ma Midwives, engaging in home visits and clinic appointments.
• Participated in lead testing for children in Broken Hill, educating families on the risk of increased lead levels and how to reduce exposure.

• Over 1000 hours of clinical placement in a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Centre, caring for a diverse range of multi-cultural women and their families.
• Engaged in women-centred care within various aspects of maternity cand neonatal care such as Antenatal Clinic, Day Assessment Unit (DAU), Birth Unit, Birth Unit Operating Theatre, Maternity Ward, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
• Exhibited professional and culturally safe care in 22 continuity-of-care experiences, empowering women through evidence-based advice and safe practice guidelines to health and wellbeing.
• Developed effective communication to develop rapport and trust within women and their families to determine what is important for her pregnancy journey.
• Comprehensively conduct booking, antenatal consultations and postnatal checks as part of the Maternity Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS)
• Independently utilised referral pathways to create plans for support of women with complex needs, engaging with multidisciplinary teams as part of MAPS.
• Facilitate breastfeeding through empowering women with comprehensive education in the antenatal and postnatal periods and employing strategies to support women with increased needs.
• Engaged as an active midwifery team member during escalations of care during emergencies.
• Participated in integrative care by independently utilising electronic medical documentation such as eMR and eMaternity to document patient care.
