In the Hospital in charge (HIC) role I am responsible for the efficient operational management of Byron Central Hospital (BCH) after hours.
I represent the executive team and communicate by the executive report to enhance the quality of care, and positive, safe patient outcomes. As well as, following policy and procedures and standards based on evidence base practice to ensure community confidence in BCH.
As part of the management team, I coordinate patient flow, bed management, patient transfers/retrivals and staffing of all areas of the hospital.
I communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team; to ensure a well managed, high quality safe service for all departments at BCH.
In the Patient Flow and In Charge of ED role, my position involves:
Communicating within the interdisciplinary team, coordinating with the patient flow portal, and the NUM of the IPU, to keep the department running efficiently and safely.
Assist in the Emergency Department as a clinical nurse in all areas: triage, resuscitation room, acute bays, and pediatrics.
Continue to Improve my knowledge, skills and performance to continue to supervise, teach and support all junior and senior staff in the department.
Monitor staff morale in the ED, and ensure the staff are supported and have meal breaks.
