  • NEST (Nutrition Education Skills Training) is a six-week program teaching adults about healthy eating and easy, affordable cooking in a friendly and fun environment.

My role in the program includes assisting with administration, teaching cooking techniques to participants, and helping people understand the content. As part of my placement I was also required to present some of the content.

Catering and Administrative Assistant

Earlier this year, Urban Discovery set up an installation at the Flower and Garden Show. During the 2-week setup process i was in charge of the catering for around 20 people per day. This included organising and preparing breakfast, lunch, snacks and refreshments for everyone. This demonstrates that I have strong abilities in time management, organisation and food safety skills. I also had a 2000 dollar budget to adhere to, which demonstrates my budget management, logistics and planning skills.

Customer Service Attendant and Supervisor

Key roles include driving and supervising for the Mobility shuttle service.

Supervising tasks include:

  • Overseeing a group of 10-12 employees over an 8-hour shift.
  • Delegating tasks to these employees.
  • Ensuring the service runs smoothly and all tasks are completed in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment, sometimes around 90,000 people.
  • Driving tasks and skills include:
  • Working well in a team to ensure all tasks get completed.
  • Showing compassion to the target audience, as they are often vulnerable and have mobility issues.
