Hannah Klose

Summary

I am currently a PhD Candidate at Monash University who is researching women and girls’ experiences and understandings of online gender-based violence. I am also a Research Assistant at Queensland University of Technology and the co-founder of eiris, which is an intersectional initiative that is revolutionising online safety for users of digital communities. Through my extensive work on feminist technology, I am passionate about creating inclusive online spaces for communities and harnessing technology in a way that protects and empowers users of social media platforms.

  • I am currently appointed as a research assistant under the supervision of Dr Ariadna Matamoros-Fernandez
  • Over the next year, I will be contributing to her DECRA project which analyses the harmful impact of humour on social media platforms
  • My role involves finding relevant case law involving humour, analysing tweets, and researching case studies from five media institutions, including the Australian Press Council, Independent Media Council, New Zealand Media Council, Ofcom and ACMA.

  • The National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032 is Australia’s overarching strategy to address domestic, family and sexual violence. In 2021, the Department of Social Services contracted the Monash Gender and Family Violence Prevention Centre to undertake key elements of the Australian Government's consultation process to inform the next National Plan.
  • My role included managing workshop invitations to stakeholders and email communications, workshop observations and writing up of workshop summaries, and additional administration to support preparations, including creating PowerPoint slides and liaising with workshop facilitators.
