Professional Highlights
- Working with emergency services to restore power to flood-affected areas in Hawkes Bay after Cyclone Gabrielle in 2023. This involved using zip lines to cross rivers, disconnecting installations from the main grid, and connecting diesel generators. I also ensured compliance with AS/NZS 3000 directives for generator supplied installations.
- Leading a team of four electricians and apprentices to install a new infeed line in an onion processing plant for a local horticulture company. This involved installing devices, cableways, cabling and termination of wiring into devices and panels. I also learned how to program and commission Schneider variable speed drives and PLCs to optimize the performance of the equipment.
- Wiring pump skids for a 180-hectare vineyard, including testing, commissioning and FAT documentation. I also followed the equipment to site for installation and connection to the irrigation system.
- Leading a team of five electricians and apprentices to install all devices, cableways and cabling for an 11-hectare greenhouse. This was a interesting project that used VF drives to control the roof sections, shade screens and air flow to regulate the temperature, humidity and radiation levels. This project involved a lot of closed loop control systems.
- Completed a project installing a power factor correction unit at a fertilizer processing plant, which including mounting new cables ways, installation of Current Transformers and wiring of the PF unit.
