Third year Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student at The University of Newcastle. Trained in principles of mechanical engineering, design practices and project management. Highly organized, detail-oriented and keen to gain experience in engineering industries of interest.
During my time with Crossmuller as an undergraduate mechanical engineer I have been exposed to a broad range of tasks within the comapny. Majority of my time has been spent embedded within the sheetmetal department with typical tasks including:
- Sheetmetal bending
- Sheetmetal rolling
- Welding
- Part preperation
- Component Assembly
- Manufacturing process problem solving
- General workshop duties
I am currently employed by the Royal Australian Navy under the Defence University Sponsorship scheme while I complete my Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Newcastle.
I spent two months with the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG) based at the Australian Submarine Corporation facility in South Australia as an undergraduate mechanical engineer. During my time here I was tasked with assessing the Verification, Validation and Accreditation of a computational simulation model against industry and organisational standards, as a part of my work I completed an in depth engineering report. Other experience gained during my time with NSSG included;
- Attending weekly engineering design workshops
- Assisting the human engineering department with scope revision and finalisation
- Assisting the acoustics department with sound and vibration testing
- Assisting BAE Systems Periscope department with the assembly and calibration of a refurbished device
- Computer Aided Design
- General mechanical engineering knowledge
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Sheetmetal manufacturing
- Engineering report writing
