Psychosocial and Disability Support Worker
1 Year 8 Months- I support individuals through their NDIS funding to attain their goals and outcomes. We visit places to exercise, socialise and do courses and voluntary or work related activities. I make it my goal to make each day exciting and meaningful so that the clients have maximum opportunities to achieve a sense of satisfaction.
- Provide personal care, manual handling, disability support, any goals and requirements they have on their NDIS plan.
Mental Health Support Partner
1 Month- I support people with young onset dementia in day to day activities to achieve their goals in the home and community. We work together for personal care, bowel management and access in the community, to keep healthy and engage in activities, and have an enjoyable day doing things that they love to do.
Mental Health Recovery Support Worker
1 Year 5 Months- Working to support people with Mental Health challenges in the community. Providing recovery oriented, trauma informed support and interventions to help people obtain their goals and connect with the community for optimal outcomes for their health and wellbeing.
Mental Health Recovery Peer Worker
7 Years 4 Months- The pioneering position of Peer Support Worker at MC MHS was one of eight PSW's employed by North Metropolitan Adult Mental Health Service in 2014.
- I supported people suffering from chronic and persistent mental illness to engage with hope and recovery in order to live a satisfying and fulfilling life.
- I utilised crisis management listening skills, empathy and understanding in all of my interactions.
- I interpreted the language and experience of recovery from mental illness for clinicians and for patients in order to transform patient self-perception, and clinical attitudes to psychiatric illness.
- It was a culture changing role which reduced stigma associated with mental illness and delivered tangible results for patients and clinicians.
- I emphasised that it is normal for people to recover from mental illness.
- My role was to embed Peer Support within the government mental health service.
- This included working within a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, psychiatric nurses and welfare officers to advocate and facilitate the best outcomes for mental health service users.
- I supported patients to achieve goals and objectives in their recovery by collaborating with the patient, their Case Manager, and their psychiatrist to create and implement Recovery Model Care Plans.
- I participated in clinical reviews at Team Meetings.
- Since July 1st 2017, I became the only Peer Support Worker in the Royal Perth Bentley Group.
- I continued to actively promote the Recovery Model and lived experience of mental illness in the form of Peer Support, as crucial for positive Mental health outcomes in psychiatry in line with the Mental Health Act 2014.

2 Years- I provided massage for non-verbal; wheel-chair bound people with cerebral palsy, autism, epilepsy, and acquired brain injuries
- The most challenging aspect of my work was creating a trust relationship between myself and the particular clients who were hyper-sensitive to touch
