James Anderson

I am now a 3rd year Electrical apprentice working for Prime, I have work on many commercial job sites varying from apartments, to offices to retail. All of my work has been within the Greater Region of Melbourne excluding the current site I reside in at Carlton. Throughout my apprenticeship I have acquired many skills being but not limited to;

• Installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical plans and schematics
• Fitting off Data
• Rough in cables for lighting, power and data cables
• Fitting off switchboards
• Managing and delegating for other apprentices
• Testing and commissioning
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities

I have learned a lot from working with Prime and through my strong work ethic I have been given extra responsibilities to follow. However, I know with Westwoods I would be able learn a whole other side to being the best electrician that I can be by further developing my skills and obtaining my A grade license.

Tasks that were involved in this job were preparing food, completing kitchen and store maintenance, as well as training new employees.

I was a team leader which involved learning how to manage and communicate in a wide variety of situations. It taught me to multitask, be patient yet work at a high pace, and how to use team work and communication skills with my co workers to work efficiently and effectively.

I was also typically given the responsibility to open and close the store.
