Skillsandresponsibilities

Proficient in molecular biology techniques such as SDS-PAGE electrophoresis, Western immunoblotting, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, restriction enzyme digests, plasmid preps. Extensive experience in animal surgery and dissections (in rats and mice) - including anesthesia, oral gavage, intravenous injections, intraperitoneal injections, skeletal muscle injections and function testing (in situ), jugular vein cannulations and infusions, spinal cord injections, inoculation of tumour cells, Considerable experience in cell culture techniques including culturing muscle cells, cancer cells; 3D cell cultures and primary cell culture (and some experience with flow cytometry) Proficient in performing histological techniques such as cryostat sectioning, immunofluorescent and immunoperoxidase staining of tissue sections and cells. Experience in imaging including confocal microscopy Managing mice breeding programs including genotyping. Maintenance of general lab area and stocks Maintenance of good and accurate lab records Administrative tasks such as ordering, budgets, invoice management and account reconciliations
