Best & Less is a job that gave me many more opportunities than I initially imagined when first obtaining the job. I acquired this job whilst still studying in year 12, just before my HSC exams. As a result I learned and developed invaluable time management skills; balancing school life and work life. Additionally, once I finished school I began to gain more responsibility in this role, as I was given tasks in visual merchandising. In gaining more experience, I was trained as a step-up assistant manager. This brought much more responsibility, such as managing and coordinating a team, closing the store, dealing with money and addressing varying customer requests

As my first job, working at a sports shop aligned with my passion for sports. I was able to further build on my customer service skills by providing advice to customers on appropriate sports shoes and clothing, specific to their needs. Despite being a very different environment to the fruit shop, I quickly adapted and began to enjoy work life, continuing to improve my skills

Although not an official job, growing up I often spent my weekends and any free time I had working at my family fruit shop in Camden. From a young age I learnt valuable people skills and also assisted in wrapping and packing fruits and other food items. I believe I acquired invaluable experience that helped me ease into getting my first official job
