Registered for over 30 years, I have spent most of my nursing career in community health. Working as a generalist community nurse in Sydney I obtained a Graduate Diploma in Community Health. I then pursued a dream to work remote health. Following a short foundational course in Ntaria, an aboriginal community west of Alice Springs. Community palliative care in both remote, rural and urban settings was where I developed my true passion. It suited my natural empathy, compassion and desire to make a difference. I honed skills and experience in a patient centred and a wholistic approach to care. The transition to Public Health as the TB Program Nurse was an opportunity for further professional development. Gaining valuable knowledge and skills in disease surveillance, immunisation and disease prevention has enhanced my experience, knowledge expertise.
