During the years of detention service experience, John has developed strong people and customer service skills based on a myriad of interactions with people of many differing cultures, backgrounds and varied personalities.

Within the busy Villawood Immigration Detention Facility, John has worked mostly in the Blaxland High Security Facility and also in the Main Detention Centre as well as numerous APOD's (Alternative Place of Detention, ie: Hotels, Rented Homes, Apartments etc)

  • Maintain all static and dynamic security protocols, processes and procedures relevant to Villawood Detention Centre
  • Duty of care of all detainees held in Immigration detention, including personal care and observation duties
  • Performed Emergency Responses to critical incidents
  • Manage and monitor area of assigned responsibility on daily roster basis (i.e. Accommodation, Reception/Discharge, Visits, Gatehouse vehicle checks, internal and external perimeter foot and mobile patrols etc)
