Role Overview:

A Childcare Assistant Educator supports the daily operations of an early childhood education setting by providing nurturing care, assisting with educational programs, and ensuring a safe, stimulating environment for children aged 0–5 years. Working under the guidance of a Lead Educator or Room Leader, the assistant helps implement play-based learning activities while adhering to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Childcare & Supervision:

- Provide attentive care to children’s physical and emotional needs (e.g., nappy changes, meal assistance, sleep routines).

- Supervise children during indoor/outdoor play to ensure safety and engagement.

2. Educational Support:

- Assist in delivering age-appropriate learning activities under the direction of the Lead Educator.

- Encourage children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development through play and interactions.

3. Health & Safety:

- Maintain a clean, hygienic environment (e.g., sanitizing toys, following allergy protocols).

- Adhere to centre policies, including sun safety, first aid, and emergency procedures.

4. Team Collaboration:

- Work closely with educators to set up learning environments and document children’s progress.

- Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.

5. Family Communication:

- Build positive relationships with families by providing daily updates on their child’s activities and wellbeing.

• Provide high-quality care and supervision to children aged 6 months to 5 years] and after school care.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate educational activities and play-based learning experiences.
• Support children’s emotional and social development through individual and group interactions.
• Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding their child’s progress and daily activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
• Assist in meal preparation and feeding, diaper changing, and maintaining hygiene routines.
• Observe and document children’s development and milestones, supporting individualized care plans.

• Supported other educators in the delivery of daily programs and activities.
• Engaged with children in indoor and outdoor play, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
• Helped set up and clean activity areas, ensuring a safe and organized space for children.
• Participated in parent-educator meetings and provided feedback on children’s progress.
• Assisted with record-keeping and maintaining up-to-date child files.
