Role Overview:
A Childcare Assistant Educator supports the daily operations of an early childhood education setting by providing nurturing care, assisting with educational programs, and ensuring a safe, stimulating environment for children aged 0–5 years. Working under the guidance of a Lead Educator or Room Leader, the assistant helps implement play-based learning activities while adhering to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Childcare & Supervision:
- Provide attentive care to children’s physical and emotional needs (e.g., nappy changes, meal assistance, sleep routines).
- Supervise children during indoor/outdoor play to ensure safety and engagement.
2. Educational Support:
- Assist in delivering age-appropriate learning activities under the direction of the Lead Educator.
- Encourage children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development through play and interactions.
3. Health & Safety:
- Maintain a clean, hygienic environment (e.g., sanitizing toys, following allergy protocols).
- Adhere to centre policies, including sun safety, first aid, and emergency procedures.
4. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with educators to set up learning environments and document children’s progress.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
5. Family Communication:
- Build positive relationships with families by providing daily updates on their child’s activities and wellbeing.
