I worked in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care of women in the maternity ward.
My role included antenatal clinic, antenatal outpatients, intrapartum, post-partum and level 2 SCN including bubble CPAP. The maternity unit has 8 bed ward, 2 bed birth suite and 3 cot SCN. My shifts varied from birthing babies to looking after premature and sick babies in the SCN.
My role included working across all 3 areas of the facility as In Charge. In the emergency department, I worked in an autonomous manner as no doctor in town after 5pm weekdays and on weekends. The facility has 2 bed emergency department, 5 acute bed ward and 15 bed aged care unit.

Howard Springs Quarantine Facility – Darwin

Duties included swabbing residents on arrival at airport, again at Day 7 & Day 12. Providing basic nursing care needs such as first aid, medication deliveries, blood collection.
Provided post operative care in a 10 bed stage 1 recovery unit including 1 negative pressure room. Role also included rotating through Day Surgery admissions and stage 2 recovery. I worked as TL most shifts which involved coordinating and allocating staff to patient care, maintaining good, consistent flow through the unit for patients discharging to ward or stage 2 recovery. Surgeries performed included general surgery, orthopedic including fracture NOF and joint replacements, pediatric surgery from age 12 up, cardiac and thoracic procedures not requiring ICU post op.
Cherbourg is a First Nations community in south east Queensland. Duties included working in the 3 bed emergency department utilizing my RIPERN endorsement and 14 bed general ward. I backfilled the midwife in the Hut covering antenatal/postnatal care for women in the community. I was also given to opportunity to backfill for the CNC when he was covering the DON on leave.
Women and Children's unit included caring for pediatric patients from birth to 16 years, antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care of women having babies. Level 1 SCN. No CPAP capability.
I worked in a pediatric cancer centre in an inpatient ward. I was trained in chemotherapy and looked after children from birth to 16 years with blood cancers, solid tumors and other hematological disorders.
