• Aug 2022 - Sep 2023 - Consultant for construction of warehouse complex for AitkenSpence Logistics (Pvt)Ltd, Mabole, Sri Lanka.

Monitored execution of contract work for compliance with design plans and specifications. Coordinated construction activities and provided technical instructions to ensure high level of quality controlling for racking. Provided alternative solutions for timely completion within the initial budget while facing challenges with economic crisis in the country.

• Jan 2021 - July 2022 - Design Engineer & Consultant for strengthening and restoration of wastewater storage tank connected to 500+ industries in Free trade Zone, Seethawaka, Sri Lanka.

Conducted structural assessments, analysis and design for strengthening using CFRP external strengthening into ACI440 code and introducing new load transfer frames. Provided technical instructions to restore the tank without obstructing activities in the industrial zones and connected manufacturing companies in the construction phase.

• Aug. 2020 - Feb. 2021 - Consultant (Client) for construction of laboratory building complex for Department of transport and Logistics, University of Moratuwa.

Evaluated the structural design in accordance with Euro code. Provided technical instructions and coordinated with contractor, consultant and client while facing post Covid-19 challenges for timely completion of the project.

• Jan 2017 - May 2019 - Civil Engineering Consultant (Client's coordinator) for construction of two lecture hall complexes for Faculty of Architecture and built environment; and Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa.

Assisted on document preparation for pre-tender stage for optimum satisfaction of client's objectives within budget, providing alternative solutions. Conducted structural design checks in accordance with BS codes. Monitored constructions and provided technical assistance whenever necessary.

• Feb 2016 - May 2017 - Design Engineer and Consultant for Ceylon Petroleum Cooperation, Sri Lanka.

Designed and detailing of pile raft foundation for a large-scale petroleum storage tank while placing challenges by ensuring highest accuracy of floor levelling and less than 5 mm settlement under tank full condition to sustain steel super structure. Provided close monitoring and construction guidance during construction phase. Assisted the client in the pre-tendering stage of the project.

• Dec. 2015 - Jan. 2017 - Member of Consultancy team for Proposed High altitude Sport centre, Ministry of Sports, Sri Lanka

This is a large-scale project which focused on conducting international level tournaments for 10 sports under financial aids of France. Rendered the service on volunteer basis. Engaged in pre-tendering stage for environmental feasibility assessment, preparation of tender documents and preliminary design checks in accordance with Euro code while managing conflicts with the representative Ministers/secretaries of the government of Sri Lanka.

• Aug. 2014 - Sep. 2015 - Structural design Engineer for Gem Cooperation, Sri Lank

Challenge of this design was to arrange structural members and vertical/horizontal load paths to ensure a shape of a cut Gem to the four-storey concrete building. Engaged in Structural analysis, design and detailing of structural members in accordance with Euro code. Coordinated with the team of Architects to ensure expected aesthetic appearance with alternative structural arrangements.

• Sep. 2013 - May 2014 - Structural Design Engineer and Consultant for AirkenSpence Logistics (Pvt.) Ltd, Sri Lanka

This is a warehouse with heavily settled (100 mm - 600 mm) and tilted steel columns resulted from a design error. The main challenge was to restore the warehouse without discontinuing storage facilities already available in the premise. Conducted structural assessment, analysed and identified required strengthening and restoration procedure. Prepared report which included design and restoration guidelines. Supervised and provided technical instructions to ensure health and safety which the most critical aspect in this project. Managed and coordinated to minimize project cost variations beyond the engineering estimate during construction phase.

• Jan. 2012 - July 2013 - Civil Engineering Consultant for AitkenSpence Logistics (Pvt.) Ltd., Sri Lanka

This is a main yard which was constructed on peat soil and provided storage facilities for export and import cargo. The main challenge was to restore this heavily settled yard due to construction and design error, without obstructing daily vehicle movements and storage facilities in the business. Provided technical guidance for the construction phase of the development of container yard within the expected budget of the client.

Designed and detailed of small scale warehouses and managed construction works while effectively communicate from site level to the organization level.

The West Gate bridge strengthening Phase ii - Design of effective anchorage system for FRP strengthening for overall material saving about 10%.

Strength Assessments of heavily degraded bridge girders in several bridges belong to VIC road and Queensland MainRoad (under ARRB).

Esso Worley ( Kipa tuna gas project ) - Engaged in detailed testing and non-linear finite element modelling to design expansion of oil storage platform under the ocean.

• Completed research on CFRP strengthening technology leading to MSc and PhD degrees.
• Taught subjects; Design of concrete and Masonry structures, Steel and Timber Structures, Bridge design and Assessments, Advanced structural analysis and design, Computing and Modelling in accordance with AS codes to Civil Engineering undergraduates
• Taught Business statistics and Engineering Mathematics for Diploma level students in Monash College, Clayton and Canfield campuses
