With a background rooted in rural life, I have gained extensive experience working on a cattle property, developing strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Transitioning from the farm to diverse job roles has sharpened my adaptability, work ethic, and collaborative abilities. Pursuing higher education at university has further refined my skills, particularly in research and time management. I am confident that these qualities will greatly benefit me in the field of International Relations.
My role as part of the Indo-Pacific studies centre was to work on and present a research topic the revolved around the AUKUS treaty's impact in the region. The internship allowed me to utilise the research skills that i have honed at university.
My role a farm hand included managing the day to day operations on beef cattle farms and avocado orchards, This included operating different types of machinery, animal husbandry, infrastructure installation and maintenance. My role required me to often work alone for weeks at a time needing me to have a high level of attention to detail, adaptability and critical thinking so I was able to deal with the ever changing situation on the farms.
I was employed by QPW as a Level 003 Park Ranger on a short-term contract basis. It was an informative experience, and I gained a lot of insight into the Natural Resource Management employed by QPW, procedural requirements and workplace health and safety.
I have been fortunate enough to be a water ski instructor with Blue Star Camps in North Carolina, USA, for three seasons. It combined my love of people, my desire to travel and a working experience that was completely unique. In the last two seasons I was a senior member of the waterskiing team. Our primary responsibility was teaching children to ski both on a cable park and behind a boat. Between camp rotations the staff are required to do maintenance. Due to my experience, I would operate machinery, conduct maintenance and repairs on the facilities and grounds of the campus.
