Please accept my expression of interest for the position of a Health and Physical Education teacher. Please take the time to consider this application, as I believe I would be a continued asset to Prendiville College.
My interest in this role is driven by my passion for both Outdoor Education and Physical Education and developing the Prendiville students experience in the outdoors and on the playing field. When considering the experiences that shape my teaching inside the classroom, I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to immerse myself at Sacred Heart for semester 2 which has allowed me to teach Health and Physical Education to students in year 7 to 10, making a positive impact on their learning and attitude towards Health, Physical Education, and Outdoor Education. I have also been given the opportunity to teach part of a year 11 general Physical Education studies class, exposing me to the progression of learning between lower school Physical Education, general and ATAR.
My ability to foster a safe and positive relationship with students is evident through my teaching, however I see value in immersing into a pastoral care program (homeroom) each day which strengthens relationships with students and connecting to parents. This also allows me to get to know the students in their wider academic efforts by creating a safe and caring environment. This bonus time gives me the opportunity to assist the students in becoming the best they can be at that point in life.
I have recently completed a 6 month contract at Hale School in the Outdoor Education department which has provided me with extensive experience in leading outdoor education camps in remote parts of Western Australia on a full time load. This job required me to adapt to unexpected changes as well as building relationships with students to further the impact on their own relationship with nature and expose them to real world experiences. I have been the lead instructor on various outdoor activities include hiking, canoeing, mountain biking and snorkelling in the South West region, as well as remote north west WA. This job has required me to provide direct support in the development and facilitation of years 4 to 7 camps, as well as maintain appropriate and accurate records, especially regarding aspects of risk or injury management and communications.
I have completed a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education, double majoring in Outdoor Education, and specialising in Mathematics at The University of Notre Dame Fremantle. Completing my double major in a short time frame has extended my organisational skills which allowed me to be on track to graduate, be actively involved in coaching, playing sport of my own, and instructing Outdoor Education camps with schools and organising some of my own camp groups with Christian Surfers.
As a strong Christian, my core values of faith, forgiveness and kindness are embedded into my teaching, and I believe they align with colleges values of compassion, courage and respect. These experiences will continue to equip me with the capabilities and confidence to impart my wealth of knowledge to students under my care.
My wide range of experience inside and out of the classroom has developed my ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, work effectively in a fast paced environment as well as seamlessly fit in and collaborate with many different staff groups. I believe I have the qualifications, experience, and an energetic approach to suit the role at Prendiville College.
Thank you for considering my application. I would be inspired to join the team at Prendiville College and would love the opportunity to discuss how my experiences and passions can contribute to the vision and success of the college.
