I am an enthusiastic teacher dedicated to creating an enjoyable, inviting and dynamic learning atmosphere for my students. I believe I possess the necessary skills needed to motivate and mentor students of all ages and learning levels. I want to be able to encourage enthusiasm for learning and encourage self-discipline, a sense of responsibility and a positive evaluation of personal wealth. To encourage the development of well-balanced personal relationships, a caring attitude towards other people and a willingness to serve within the Christian culture is my strength. Through my past experiences, I have been able to use effective and efficient methods of teaching to focus on the individual needs of each student and do so in a Christian manner. I am a passionate teacher who strives to inspire students to reach their full potential and have beliefs in their dreams as well as foster authentic Godly relationships.

Work History

Year 7 Pastoral Coordinator

As the Year 7 Pastoral Coordinator I have the exciting opportunity to offer expert pastoral and behaviour support specifically in Year 7, but more broadly across the Secondary School. Under the oversight of the Director of Years 7-8 and in conjunction with the other Pastoral Coordinators, I am working towards promoting and implementing the following duties to assist with the direction of the college.

Current duties:

  • Meet regularly with the Director of Years 7-8 and the other Pastoral Coordinator (Year 8) to proactively respond to the pastoral needs of all Year 7 students.
  • Support Year 7 Home Group teachers and classroom teachers to respond to the pastoral needs of their students.
  • Ensure consistent and proactive communication with parents in relation to behaviour and pastoral issues affecting Year 7 students.
  • Oversee and support Year 7 specific events, including Year 7 Orientation Day and the Year 7 Camp.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Year 7-8 and the other Pastoral Coordinator (Year 8) I coordinate and oversee assemblies.
  • Share the responsibility of signing and proof-reading semester reports with other pastoral leadership.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Year 7-8, I support classroom teachers to ensure high expectations are maintained alongside a high level of support to guide students to take responsibility for their own academic performance, behaviour and presentation.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Year 7-8, I support the behaviour management of students across Year 7.
  • Follow up students making poor behaviour choices or those who are disengaged from their learning, involving parents when necessary.
  • Refer student management issues to the Director of Year 7-8 and Secondary Principal which are ongoing and/or serious in nature.
  • Maintain prompt and thorough documentation of student matters ( ie appropriately recording in SEQTA). When required, ensure relevant documentation of student matters is shared with the Student Wellbeing Teams.
  • Assist the Director of Year 7-8 to action and communicate strategies, supports and appropriate consequences as required ( ie behaviour contract, suspensions etc) that align with College Policies and Procedures.
  • When necessary, meet with individual students to support/mentor/counsel as required.
  • Regularly acknowledge student achievements in assemblies, newsletters etc.
  • In conjunction with the Secondary School Principal, Secondary Year Level Directors ( 7-8, 9-10, 11-12) and Year Level Coordinators ( 7-12), assist in the development of the calendar of diverse inter house events, such as inter house extracurricular competitions.
  • Assist in aligning inter-house activities purposefully across Years 7-12.
  • Highlight inter house events and successes through assemblies and newsletters, emphasising participation benefits.
  • Assist in the implementation of a points system for events with an annual award for the top performing house;acknowledging individual and team successes regularly.
  • Ensure activities cater to diverse student interests and abilities; empowering students within houses for increased engagement.
  • Work closely with the Year 7 Home Group Teachers.
  • Work closely with the other Pastoral Coordinators ( years 7-12).
  • When required, work closely with Learning Support Coordinator and School Counsellors/Well being Team to address student needs and/or concerns.
  • Attend Staff Devotions and Staff meetings.
  • Attend Professional Learning sessions where necessary.
  • Involved in co-curricular programs of the College ( eg Year 7 Camp).
  • Contribute to extra-curricula activities ( eg ECCO)
  • Support the policies and expectations of the College.

Middle School Female Pastoral Care Coordinator

As the Middle School Female Pastoral Care Coordinator for Years 7-9, I undertook a number of significant duties which helped provide a safe, nurturing and caring environment for the Middle School students in particular the female students.

Duties:

  • Called all new parents to Emmaus at the start of each calendar year and any joined parents in later throughout the year.
  • Communicated and worked with parents in a prompt, thorough and consistent manner.
  • Liaised with Middle School staff regarding student matters.
  • Met regularly with the Middle School Pastoral Team to discuss Middle School student matters.
  • Informed and worked collaboratively with the Head of Middle School on student management issues that were ongoing and/or serious in nature.
  • Actioned and communicated strategies as required ( ie behaviour contracts, suspensions).
  • Implemented Middle School policies and procedures.
  • Identified and responded to student management issues in accordance with the College's expectations and behaviour management.
  • Followed up with students and families who did not attend Detentions/ Lunch Time Studies by the due date.

  • Employed interactive teaching methods that catered for student learning needs and taught students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds who had a range of language proficiencies
  • Worked collaboratively with the Greek teaching department, languages team and other staff in preparing for cultural experiences in the language context

As part of the JET program, I was placed in local boards of education ( Kindergarten, Primary and Junior High schools) where I engaged in language instruction to classes of approximately 35-40 students in each class and carried out the following duties under the guidance of Language Teachers' Consultants

  • Engaged in English language conversation training at primary and junior high schools
  • Prepared materials using all four macro skills from resources both internal and external
  • Assisted in projects related to international activities eg editing, translating and compiling of pamphlets
  • Created an International Room filled with many learning materials that could provide a mutual understanding between Japan and Australia
  • Founded English club which provided opportunities for the students with an interest in English
  • Prepared and coached students for English language speech contests
  • I was responsible for exchange activities related to local residents and local private groups in cross cultural awareness and understanding.

  • Spending quality time with my family is my top priority. We enjoy going to the beach, where we can relax, swim and soak up the sun together.
  • Riding my bike whether it's a leisurely ride through the neighbourhood or exploring new trails is another enjoyable past time.
  • Catching up with friends, going out for dinner or coffee is something I cherish and love staying connected.
  • Going on holidays with my family is another passion of mine. Travelling together and exploring new places, strengthens our bond and provides us with cherished moments to look back on fondly.
  • Attending Greek festivals, listening to Greek music, Greek dancing and going to Greek concerts, connects me to my heritage which brings me immense joy and sense of community.
