Weekend emergency clinic for the general Belfast area, mainly unregistered patients, unable to get dentists on NHS, management of pain/bleeding only

• Working 9:00-17:30 (4-5 days per week) with occasional weekend emergency clinic
• Mixed NHS/Private patients in practice. Adult and paediatric patients
• Routine oral health checkups, education and treatment planning (including radiographs)
• In depth discussions with patients on their diagnosis and how we can work together to treat any dental disease present
• Discussing a wide range of options both NHS and private
• Treating a wide variety of patients from those who want simple stabilisation / minimally invasive / cheapest approach to those wanting higher end or cosmetic treatments
• 1 hour of emergencys every day
• Caries removal and restoration. Materials: GIC, Composite (anterior and posterior), Amalgam, Biodentine, Kalzinol
• Periodontal diagnosis and treatment
• Extractions, simple surgicals if required
• Root canals, emergency and completion, up to and including second molars
• Indirect restorations: temp and permanent post / crowns, bridgework (3 unit maximum)
• Dentures: mainly full and partial acrylics, occasional CoCr or valplast
• Teeth whitening
• Provision of soft splints / advice re TMJD
• Mild alligner / composite bonding cases
• Onward referral where required

NHS/Private dental treatments

Following graduation I completed Dental Foundation Training (DFT) with Health Education England on the North Scheme.

I worked as a general dentist 4-5 days per week under guidance of my Educational Supervisor, a GDP and practice owner, who was there for support and advice.

I also attended a weekly study day with other FD's in the area where we had an array or lectures and phantom head teaching.
