I currently work a 0.8 EFT (64hrs in a fortnight) on Ward 6 Gynaecology/Oncology, HDU or Day Chemotherapy, depending on staffing, acuity and my rostering allocations.
My work experience is currently related to the course in which I am applying for as I work on a unit that provides care for oncology patients with gynaecological cancers. As well as on our Day Chemotherapy Unit administering IV chemotherapy and providing patient centered care to these women.
I have a compassionate and dedicated work ethic and I am commitment to patient care and patient well-being. I have the foundational skills to provide care in these healthcare settings I currently work in, but would love to be able to expand my knowledge further in a way that allows me to link the care that we provide for our women with an increased breadth of knowledge this course will give me.
I love our oncology patients that I have the pleasure of caring for in chemotherapy, and on the ward and I will appreciate and cherish the enhancement I will gain from this course to provide a higher standard of care to patients and their families.
Compassionate and dedicated with strong commitment to patient care and well-being. Possesses foundational knowledge in medical procedures and patient care, with skills in monitoring vital signs and administering medications. Aims to make significant impact on patient outcomes through effective care and empathy.
Work as a registered nurse in Mercy Hospital for Women Ward 6 Gynaecology/Oncology Unit. Providing care for patients pre and post-operatively, wound infections, patients under investigation for bleeding/pain etc and maternity patients under 25 weeks. As well as patients who experience miscarriage or fetal death in utero and the associated after care of this for them and their families. Encompassing all and any associated care for patients requiring gynaecological care.
I have completed a transition to speciality practice study course allowing me to work in our High Dependency Unit (HDU). Where we look after oncology and gynaecology patients with higher needs of care or whom are unwell exceeding the needs of being looked after on the ward. Alongside Prenatal and Postnatal maternity patients requiring higher need of care and monitoring than on the pre and postnatal wards.
I have also completed a rotation into our Day Chemotherapy Unit and currently work in the unit as often as I am able to. With our 7 chair unit providing care and administering chemotherapy and adjuvant treatment to our patients with all types of gynaecological cancers. With remaining competent and signed off to be able to administer IV chemotherapy treatments.
