Placement Experience

The Alfred Hospital - 2024

  • Acute adult inpatient and outpatient.
  • Mixed caseload including Oncology (inpatient and outpatient), General Medicine, ENT, Cardiology/Heart Failure, Burns and General Surgery.
  • By end of placement could manage a 3 patient caseload, including treatment planning, progress note and report writing.
  • Completed OME, BDSE, Aphasia Screener and, Language Screener.
  • Experience navigating and using EMR systems.
  • Had opportunities to observed multiple FEES and VFSS.
  • Attended interdisciplinary case management meetings.
  • Developed a handout for Oncology outpatients outlining Xerostomia as a side effect of treatment and listed products easily accessible in the community for management of this side effect.


Sunshine Hospital (Western Health) - 2023

  • Acute adult inpatient.
  • Mixed caseload including general medicine, stroke/neuro and GEM.

  • Paediatric caseload, predominately community health with some Early Childhood Intervention clients.
