Youth Justice Workers are primarily responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the Youth Justice custodial centres. Youth Justice Workers are also responsible for providing care, supervision and support to children and young people in the custodial centres by acting as role models, building positive working relationships and supporting young people to achieving positive outcomes.

• Provide care, supervision, safety and support for young people in custodial facilities, supporting their personal development through structured programs and daily routines, interaction and the modelling of appropriate behaviors.
• Maintain a secure environment for the benefit of young people, staff and the community.
• Support the implementation, coordination and facilitation of programs for individuals and groups, including case and client services planning as well as review and prepare reports and case notes relating to assessment and client management.
• Encourage and support young people in their contact with their families, significant others, health and education services, other agencies, potential employers and the general community.
• Assist in maintaining and facilitating a range of essential daily routines, including assisting young people with tasks associated with daily living. Work as an effective team member, contributing to the improvement of processes in the work area, dealing appropriately with challenging behaviors and escalating issues as required.

• In 1994 I completed a diploma in beautician studies & makeup artistry. Upon completion I commenced the set up and running of a small business as a freelance makeup artist and beautician clinician.
• I specialized in weddings, offering services such as makeup, spray tan, eyelash extensions, waxing and massage.
• The demand for my services was high which allowed me to taylor my workload between full time and partime as during this period I was raising a family.
• During this time I developed a passion for people and communication and enhanced my skills relating to rapport building, customer relations, sales and emotional intelligence.

• I was initially employed by Taylors Wines as a Merchandiser, then promoted to the Area Manager position of which I was responsible for covering the Northern/Eastern suburbs of Melbourne
• Within this role, I serviced chain stores, Independents, Dan Murphy’s, and First Choice stores
• My duties included: Building rapport with Store Managers, Ensuring promotional items were compliant, Selling in new distributions, Ensuring enough stock weight, Building displays according to planograms, Attend quarterly ‘cycle brief’ seminars for product training, Memorizing and reciting ‘elevator speeches’ in trade, Wine / product knowledge to promote the Taylors brand.

• As a Merchandiser with Scoop & Weigh for Prolife Foods, my duties included: Ordering, placing and filling stock, Following planograms, Assisting customers and liaising with Coles Produce Management.
• In addition to these tasks, my focus was to regularly create point of sale displays which were also required for promotional purposes.
• An essential part of my role was to communicate effectively with the Scoop & Weigh Customer Service and Management. This was completed in person or electronically via the uploading of documents/reports on my smartphone or computer.

• My business primarily involved contracting to a reputable Gym. As a Gym Instructor, I assisted members with their fitness programs focusing on weight loss and fitness goals. I planned and conducted motivational classes including outdoor boot camps, boxing, and Pilates.
• My role included administrative duties, promotions, and liaising with current members to ensure customer satisfaction. The generating of new members was imperative to the business and I regularly visited various businesses and conducted cold calling to generate leads.
• Additionally, I had a number of clients I would train in public spaces or in the comfort of their homes.
