I was responsible for handling cash transactions accurately and efficiently, as well as maintaining a clean and organized store environment. Additionally, I assisted with stocking shelves, rotating products, and ensuring that all bakery items were displayed attractively. Working at Bakers Delight has allowed me to develop excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong attention to detail.
During my time as a Crew Member at McDonald's Ormond, I developed a strong foundation in customer service, teamwork, and adaptability. In the kitchen, I honed my skills in food preparation, ensuring quality and consistency in every order. During my time as a basketball coach for under 12's and under 14's I coached boys for 2 seasons leading them to two grand final victories. This job taught me how to be empathetic to situations, be resilient, always put the team first, have self-control, be patient, handle responsibility, and cope and deal with stressful situations with fellow teams and coaches, referees, and my own team management. An example of this would be when a coach from another team was upset due to the scoreboard and started yelling at me and my team, without escalating the situation I communicated that with him, respecting his frustration and continuing to make sure everyone else was okay and helping the referee escort him off the court.
I was the assistant coach to an under-12 girls' football team. This required a patient and positive mindset when handling teenage girls. In this position, I was in charge and had the responsibility of guiding the girls when making a move on the field and teaching them how to execute new skills. Moreover, I learned how to communicate under the pressure of the game. As part of the assistant coach role, I identified the need for a swift and relatable approach, which I fulfilled when we went undefeated throughout the season.
During year nine, I had the opportunity to travel around Europe with my dad, as a part of this we walked the Camino de Santiago. The Camino is an 800km hike from France to Spain. My dad and I took five weeks and hiked almost every day accomplishing the harsh pilgrimage to the shrine of the apostle Saint James in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Looking back on this extraordinary pilgrimage, I am filled with deep gratitude for the opportunity, It taught me resilience, humility, and the power of simplicity. It reminded me of the beauty of human connections and the importance of cherishing the present moment. The Camino taught me about life's journey, where the path may be uncertain, and challenges are inevitable, but embracing the process and staying true to the purpose ultimately lead to profound growth and fulfilment.
