Michael Batten

With my business partner, Dallas Frost (former colleague from my years with Garrotts), we started our own public practice accounting firm in July 2016. We started with a small list of clients and 1 additional member of staff, and 9 years on we employ 17 staff and service in excess of 2,000 small to medium business clients. In addition to my direct client commitments, I am responsible for the development of our team internally and providing mentoring, guidance and opportunities for personal growth.

Commenced employment with Garrotts as a graduate accountant in January 2005, providing general accounting and taxation services to small to medium business clients. I was promoted to a Principal of the firm in 2015 (which had by that stage been acquired by a larger corporate). The corporate model of client service delivery did not align with my view of how trusted relationships with clients should work in a regional landscape, and I tendered my resignation in June 2016.
