I am an active, dynamic and ambitious Dairy Farmer with lifelong background feeding and caring over 300 calves,500 heifers and 1000 cows daily. - Machine milking
- In 2019 at Kapsuswa, we started milking the cows by use of the simple stalled semi-automatic milking machine.
- In the year 2021, because of the increased number of dairy cows from700 to1000 the management procured an automatic rotary machine which has a capacity of milking 200 cows at a row
- Treatment is done both preventive; avoiding the pre-disposing factors and also curative; administration of intermammary antibiotics, broad spectrum injectable antibiotics and application of anti-inflammatories.(in severe cases)
- Detected early signs of illness or injury in livestock through constant observation and acted promptly to address issues.
- At Kapsuswa farm cows on heat are served using Artificial Insemination technology.Timely heat detection is key and therefore highly recommended.
- Feed ration computation.The use of total Mixed Ration machine enables us to prepare feed for all the dairy animals
- The feed materials are from the farm e.g silage hay, sunflower seed cake while the concentrates and other feed additives were procured
- Maintaining milking, health, feeding and breeding records
- Operated various farm equipment for tasks such as feeding, milking, and cleaning to maintain productivity standards.
- Other sections include record keeping e.g health records, milk records, breeding records, feeding and labor records
- Managed waste disposal in an environmentally friendly way while following regulatory guidelines for sanitation purposes.
- Enhanced farm efficiency by maintaining clean, organized, and safe work environments for both staff and livestock.
- Participated in regular farm meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies for continuous improvement.
- Assisted with animal births, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mothers and offspring during the process.
- Assisted in transporting animals between different areas of the farm while prioritizing their comfort and safety throughout transitions.
