Australian Veteran Health Services is a medical service designed to assist service personnel in their transition from military life to civilian life. As a claims clerk I am required to analyse individual medical records potentially accumulating to over 20 years of reports, familiarising myself with a wide range of medical terminology. Evaluating the information given to me, condensing it to compose insurance claims which maximises the veteran's chances for each claim to be approved. As a result of direct veteran contact, I am required to develop positive and trusting relationships with clients.
Consisting of daily deliveries to a cafe within the central business district. Throughout my employment I have not missed a day nor been late to any delivery. I communicate with my employer to ensure that I can satisfy his requirements on a daily basis; being flexible when changes to the schedule arise.
I shadowed multiple doctors in different wings of the hospital ranging from emergency response, pediatrics and surgery . Throughout my time I gained a rich insight to the professional requirements of a physician and observed a surgery to resolve a perianal fistula. At times I was left alone with a worried patient whilst the doctor went to complete a task where I quickly learnt how to convey a calming and positive interaction.
As an official I was required to demonstrate competency in high pace situations, maintaining confidence and integrity in my decisions. Having to deal with emotional players and spectators in a manner which addressed their worries and resolved any issues.
During my formative years of high school in Dubai, I established a program that sought to help the labourers working in the same area that my school was situated in. The program involved providing home cooked meals for labourers and I delegated different volunteers to be responsible for each week. The program was successful as I managed to structure it to be beneficial to those who participated by ensuring each participant gained required volunteer hours for programs such as "The Duke of Edinburgh's Award" and the "International Baccalaureate" creativity, activity and service requirements.
Although I am a full time student working two jobs, I utilise my time management skills to be able to go to the gym on a daily basis and train for triathlons. I also thoroughly enjoy chess, playing the game whenever I have free time.
