In late 2023 i applied for a very highly sort after project manager's position here in bellingen with a well established landscaping business from the Blue Mountains looking to branch out here on the north coast of NSW,

Since being being awarded the position and part of the team we've been involved in some very interesting projects delivering some very high end work including a full size outdoor basketball court, a very large mulit level in ground pool, and a beuatiful full hardwood custom studio.

In this position i've been working closely with our clients and there architects and designers and also on the tools along side our team of highly skilled tradesmen in the delivery some very high quality work and in the process broadening my own skill set.

• Successfully managed multiple projects simultaneously.
• Planned, designed, and scheduled phases for our projects ensuring we met our project deadlines without sacrificing build quality or workplace safety.
• Established effective communication among team members for enhanced collaboration and successful project completion.
• Managed to get a good amount of hands on experience in an aspect of construction industry that may have been a little foreign to me,
• Enjoyed a good bit of time operating a variety of plant equipment ensuring skills previously obtained were up to standard and in check.
• Frequent meetings with the business owner and his management staff to present updates on project status and general operating achievements.

I've managed my own small carpentry business on and off this 2008, for the best part of it we've been specialising in custom bespoke finishes including local hardwood construction, large profile timber builds, projects utilising second hand and reclaimed materials, hand crafted custom window and doors, custom kitchen/bathroom cabinetry, as well as creating in-situ concrete benchtops.

• Employed and kept in operation a small team of carpenters, helping to train them up in the unique style of builds that we pride our self on.
• Put my nephew trough his carpentry apprenticeship, He is now a very proficient and capable tradesman with a large variety of skills and experience.
• On many projects i work closely with the clients,

often helping them get on the tools and really into there very own build, this seems to provide the client with a great sense of achievement and satisfaction and i also take a good bit of accomplishment away from the build.

• I organise and coordinate different sub trades throughout the building process, often liaising with the architects and interior designers to give provide the client with exactly the finish and result they were hoping for.
• I also sub contract to reputable builders in the area when asked, to help construct high end architecturally designed new home's and renovations and additions.
• I feel i have a very high understanding and the ability to compete all tasks procedures required in both residential and commercials construction, including Plan reading and interpretation, Site set out and surveying, Pier and slab preparation, Concrete placement & Finish and all aspects of construction including Renovations, Additions and Extensions.

Managed a small team of experienced marine construction contractors on a project refurbishing a section of the historic Coffs Harbour Jetty.

• The position included organising pre shift work meetings, ensuring we all new the plan for the shift and how particular tasks would be approached while recognizing and documenting potential risks and hazards that may be involved throughout the process.
• A very big enthuses was put on ensuring our immediate work area for the shift was well barricaded and delineated to the general public as the jetty was open throughout out the refurbishment and a custom counter leveraged gangway was positioned to provide access around the section of jetty being repaired, with our tracked crane being only meters from the gangway.
• Before each shift all equipment and plant, including Hiab flat bed truck, Tracked crane and a 15t Excavator were inspected and readied, making sure they were free of oil, diesel leaks as we we,re being closely monitored be the EPA with this in mind.
• Ordering materials and equipment needed for the build was also a part of the position as well as regular trips to the sawmill to pick up loads of heavy large profile bridge timbers in the flat bed truck.
• Were possible utilized modern tools and techniques for increased accuracy in cutting, shaping, and assembling the large profile wooden components to finish the repair to a high quality standard and to suit the existing construction methods and finish.

I really enjoyed and appreciated my time at Karratha Building, i started out as a general carpenter/ formworker /concreter before being elevated to leading a hand and than to a supervisor roll.

We we're lucky enough to be involved in a large diverse range of projects both in and around Karratha,Dampier as well as more remote work in the Pilbara region.

I was working along side a great bunch of highly skilled tradesmen and professionals on a variety of projects including residential, commercial, large civil contracts in the oil and gas sector and also iron ore operations,

Tasks included

• Site supervisor for a large civil project for BOC gas, We delivered the project as per plan and on budget,
• Leading hand formwork / concreter on various projects for Apache Energy Ltd,
• Managing small construction teams on large remote mine sites sub contracting and working closely Rio Tinto
• Promoted safety awareness among the workforce, leading to reduced incidents and accidents on site.

Working on the Pluto gas plant construction project was a very eye opening and satisfying experience, such a large scale operation was truly impressive, i feel i gained a great deal of experience over the 12 months spent on site,

The extremely high attention to detail working and operating safely was at first over whelming, though very understandable considering the multitude of risks and hazards involved in a large scale operation.

Task involved

• Erection of formwork, position reinforcement steel, place and finish concrete as per plan
• Construction of precast structures, transportations and positioning through out the site.
• Assemble / disassemble site offices, crib huts, ablution blocks to form temporary site compounds
• Observed all OSHA and corporate safety regulations and procedures to prevent mishaps and injuries on job sites.

Employed by John from Beyond Hope Design as a leading hand carpenter we're we worked on some really high end custom designed coattage / homestead build projects.

• Lead a team of carpenters on all forms of carpentry and construction.
• Coordinate various trades and contractors to produce the highest of standards that are expected on buils of this calibre.
• Worked in close with the clients to achieve the best possible results.
