Summary

I am a highly experienced primary school teacher who has undertaken a variety of roles over the course of my career. I have been a classroom teacher, focusing primarily on years 3-6. I have run a science specialist program which involved the design, creation and implementation of a school wide program. I have spent 4 years as a PE teacher responsible for running an incredibly busy sports program.

My great love in education has been in creating curriculum that is engaging, relevant and designed to achieve educational outcomes. I use technology to enhance the learning experience and have used everything from video and music production to Microsoft and Google Education tools to develop curriculum.

My experience as a musician has coloured everything I have done in education. I am collaborative, creative and open-minded when it comes to others ideas. Creating a dozen albums over the years has given me the ability to work on projects and see them through. Building something from the ground up and seeing it realised with a group of other people is an incredibly satisfying venture.

The next stage in my career has been prefaced with the move to take a year out of teaching to study Educational Design at Monash. I have recently completed the course and found it to be both fascinating and inspiring and highly motivating in progressing my career through a new doorway. I believe my experience as a teacher, coupled with my newly acquired Educational Design skills would make me a useful addition at ACER.
