Final Year Project - Flexible Pavement Design Using Recycled Material: A Sustainable Approach


• This project report was mainly focused on the use of recycled material in flexible pavement construction and the importance of flexible pavement design in transportation engineering.
• The methodology was basically built up on analysing experimental data, developing material models, designing pavement sections, and conducting numerical simulations using Plaxis 2D software.
• The numerical simulations aimed to capture deformation, stress distribution, and failure processes in the pavement sections.
• The calculations section applies the group index method, CBR method,and AASHTO design method to determine the pavement thickness,layer depths, and structural parameters.
• The results are used to develop the profile of the pavement,considering the properties of subgrade, subbase, base, and surface material.
