Until a few months ago, l was severely disabled (a spinal injury). Seeing the world in spoons (units of energy) & accessibility barriers changes the way you see the world.
I recovered fully, and now l must use my energy and privilege to make life a little less tough for marginalised people. Those in pain, those who fight racism and ableism every day, these people do not have the spoons - it's not their job, but l would like it to be mine.
Please reach out if you feel the same way!
I had a severe spinal injury for 3 years and l used all the will and determination l had to fully recover. I spent 80% of my time lying in bed for a year post two botched procedures ans l fought my way out tooth and nail. I managed to learn a lifetime worth of skills to help myself stay well and to teach others to do the same.
