Choosing a career in nursing, my goal has always been to deeply support and provide care without bias and preconceptions in a way that promotes well-being and allows individuals to be the best they can be. - Provide day to day care health promotion, education and empowerment individuals from diverse and vulnerable populations who may have never experienced the healthcare system. This ranges from mental health support and follow ups to assessing and monitoring physical health conditions of these individuals.
- Included in the team of first medical responders to both medical and psychiatric emergencies to asses and/or perform basic life support for patients in times of immediate need.
- Active participant in crisis management , providing individuals with support through short term crisis, and consulting with the multidisciplinary team to create ongoing care plans to reduce the potential ongoing effects of long term crisis suffering.
- Engaging in the multidisciplinary "Risk Intervention Team" to conduct Mental State Examinations to monitor patients having either/both active and passive suicidal ideation or self harm thoughts and intent. Whilst in a safe cell, the multidisciplinary team provide reassurance, monitor risk factors, protective factors and ongoing warning signs. Through this, creating a patient centred care plan for daily review.
- Delivered evidence-based quality care to diverse populations and disadvantaged persons. Involved in indigenous health promotion, drug and alcohol support and interventions. Daily primary healthcare and triaging based on patient acuity.
