Summary

My name is Ruby draper, I'm 20 years of age and have been working for aqua metro for 3 years and 7 months. I first started when i was 16 and knew not a thing about civil but here i am almost 4 years later as a leading hand and couldn't be happier with how hard iv worked to get to this position. I am now on the rise for a new challenge and new experiences to develop my career as well as my knowledge in the field and it has been a very long dream of mine to work alongside Delcon and to hopefully be apart of the team. One thing i pride myself on is being one of the few female construction workers who really love to show that i can thrive in a male dominate industry and that im not afraid to put in the hard work and get in amongst it.

Leading Hand Delegate

03.2020 - Current

I am currently working on the Yan yean to Bald Hill pipe line project for Aqua metro along side Delcon and SFP. My role is a leading hand to the pipe laying crew during the week days and supervisor to a skeleton crew for the weekend works. I have also worked on melbourne waters main relining crew, worked in ETP and WTP in maintenance work and rebuilds. I have also done earthmoving and wetlands work.

I have done large scale pipe laying, storm water and sewer main re-lining, canusa wrapping, Main to meter installations, i am a ticketed Dogman and spotter, i have my working at heights, fire service and repairs. I am also responsible for assembling and installing air valves and scour valves.

I have operated machines :

5tonne - 35 tonne excavators.

30 tonne Moxy truck (dump truck)

25 tonne franna

12 tonne Pad foot/drum rollers

Front end loader

Skills

Tickets and skills i have accumulated over my time include:

  • Remove non friable asbestos
  • Install trench supports and trenching and shoring
  • confined space and confined space rescue
  • CPR, first aid, fire warden
  • Qualified pipe layer/ laying sintakote pipe
  • Qualified Dogman
  • Working at heights
  • Machinery tickets eg excavator, moxy truck, roller, front end loader
  • Canusa wrapping and patch repair
  • Working well under pressure and within time frames
  • Good at communicating in a work environment and comprehending tasks at hand
  • Always working efficiently keeping safety as a high priority
  • Always willing to learn new skills and giving myself a challenge whilst showing my capabilities
