Registered Nurse working at Hainsworth Mental health unit in Cumberland hospital. Currently studying at Tafe NSW for my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Working towards my dream job of become a CNE.
I am a highly motivated individual who is always up for a challenge with ongoing experience working as a RN in mental health with a long background as an EEN in cardiology. With within my career, I have always made sure to keep learning new skills and continue to further my knowledge as a Lifelong Learner. Now I feel like I have reached the stage in my career with I can take all the knowledge and experience I have gain and transfer it to a role as a CNE. In which I can give back and continue teaching, training, and assessing other in a more formal educational role.
I know I will make a great asset to the as an CNE. Not only with the experience and knowledge I have gained as a Mental Health Nurse, but also with the unique perspective and knowledge I bring over from my time working in a medical cardiology/CCU ward.
• Improved on skills such as clinical reasoning, clinical knowledge and A-G assessments.
• Continuing to improve and work within a team environment, always progressing my time management and delegating skills.
• Able to worked and maintained calm under pressure within high stress situations such as Code Blues and Code Blacks.
• Responded rapidly and efficiently to deteriorating patient condition and have been able to returned them to baseline
•Assessed patient ongoing health and treatments. Used this to create care plans and coordinated care.
• Gain increase knowledge on medication. Administered oral and IV medication under the 5 rights.
• During this time I’ve also gain experience On placement at the University of Notre Dame in Blacktown Palliative care ward, Nepean orthopedic ward, Prince of Wales emergency department and Mental health placement at Sutherland Hospital.
• Worked and performed task under the supervision of an RN
• Recording ECGs, removing intravenous cannulas, recording vital signs, neurological observations.
• Developed good time management skills. Including prioritising and planning skills obtained through working with many patients and nurses at once.
