I am a civil engineering student at the University of Adelaide graduating in July 2024 seeking a graduate role in civil / structural design. While studying, I have worked part-time as a building project coordinator and site assistant giving me a passion for the built environment and a practical understanding of how a building site works. With an outgoing personality, I am always willing to learn and work well with a wide range of people from tradespeople through to project managers and engineers. In addition, I have coached, captained, and played in many sporting teams which has developed my leadership skills, focus on continual improvement and ability to work with others.
From August 2023, I have been employed part-time while completing my degree on the construction of two projects totalling $23 million. This has given exposure to the lifecycle of commercial construction projects through to handover. My role involves assisting the project manager, site manager and contract manager including:
Letting of Trade Packages
Quality Control
Client, Consultant and Contractor Relations
Document Control
This role involved using AutoCAD to design domestic swimming pools, reading and communicating structural engineering reports to the builder, getting council approval for construction and scheduling for trades to complete work. Over time I was able to assume responsibility for constructing eight pools working directly with clients and subcontractors to ensure the pools were built on time and to client expectations.
I worked for a small business servicing swimming pools. This involved cleaning, maintenance and installation of pool equipment. I often serviced pools by myself, dealing directly to clients and providing solutions for pool problems.
In 2020, I was a paid soccer coach at Westminster School. This role involved individually organising trainings for up to 30 primary school children and coaching the Year 3/4 team on matchday. During this time, I greatly improved my communication and leadership skills.
In 2020, I undertook a one-week internship in Sydney with the development team at Ingenia Communities Group which builds and maintains manufactured home estates and tourist parks in NSW, Victoria and Queensland. This experience led me to gain an interest in the development industry.
I successfully completed the theoretical and practical requirements to become a paid soccer referee for the Football Federation of SA. During my time refereeing, I have officiated at both junior and senior games.
