Responsibilities

• Carry out regular maintenance, safety, performance tests and repair of biomedical equipment, taking into consideration cost, quality and timeliness, ensure that unit is safe for clinical use in accordance with Australian Standards and manufacturer's recommendations and recording work carried out in Pulse.
• Perform preventative maintenance schedule of medical equipment and patient areas and ensure annual maintenance is completed within a timely manner.
• Undertake technical training to perform maintenance on medical equipment, create and review equipment performance verification procedures as well as review equipment contracts.
• Perform equipment evaluation & Decommissioning of unsafe units and update clinical staff on removing unsafe equipment from clinical use as well as ensured the biomedical engineering asset database is maintained and updated regularly with the latest data.
• Engage with VMIA and Department of Health with the build of baseline cyber security controls to uplift cybersecurity maturity of hospitals and community health services.
• Collaborate with medical device manufacturers to get an overview on their cybersecurity posture with their respective products.
• Co-ordinate with Principal Cybersecurity Officer, Department of Health about latest patch management as well as cybersecurity vulnerabilities and measures within respective medical device.

Achievements

• Implemented Practice Area: Identity & Access Management, Legacy Devices, Medical Device Asset Management, Network Management to mitigate the cybersecurity threats associated with medical devices.
• Received appreciation from Department of Health and successfully supporting Department of Health as Chair of Medical Device Security Working Group.
• Ensured medical devices are secure by reducing cybersecurity risk and working on hardware and software vulnerabilities.
• Successfully resolved the EMR Testing/ Go Live Defects for Anaesthetic Machines, GE Monitoring, Philips Monitoring and PB980 Ventilator with minimal supervision which lead to successful completion of EMR Phase 2.1 Go Live at Footscray.
• Communicated effectively with external stakeholders and ensured equipment is fixed and provided to internal clinical staff in a timely manner.
• Applied good engineering practices as well as exhibited great adaptation to taking up training and applying them in daily task and servicing of equipment during PM/ CM.
• Shared knowledge to peers on how to perform PM/ CM on various equipment, which helped with smooth management of BME workload.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, calibrate and repair wide range of hospital equipment in accordance with Australian standards, manufacturer's recommendations, and Clinical Engineering department procedures.
• Perform acceptance testing on new equipment purchased/rented by hospital as well as condemn equipments which are no longer used at hospital.
• Follow maintenance test procedures, record details and attach signed dated labels to equipment indicating service performed.
• Well trained in using Hardcat Database System at The Melbourne Health.
