Work History

Registered Nurse

Queensland Health
08.2023 - Current
  • I am currently employed as a Registered Nurse within Queensland Health. After completing my studies in July 2023, I accepted a Graduate Nurse position in the Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU). This unit is designed as an Emergency Department (ED) attachment, facilitating patient flow within the hospital.
  • In my role I am required to transfer patients directly from the ED waiting room to CDU and work them up as a ‘red patient’. This process involves completing patient assessments and providing care that is within my scope of practice before then, working in collaboration with Medical Officer to provide appropriate treatment options and interventions specific to the patient’s condition.
  • During this process relevant nursing tasks are performed these may include but are not limited to intravenous cannulation, insertion of indwelling devices and administration of analgesia.

Undergraduate Student Nurse

Queensland Health
10.2021 - 08.2023
  • As an Undergraduate Student Nurse my role is to provide patient care that is within my scope of practice. My role mainly involves assisting patients with personal cares – hygiene, feeding and continence cares. It also involves me providing continuous supervision for patient safety, monitoring and behaviour management in patient's with acute and chronic neurological disorders.
  • I am regularly supervised by the Registered Nurse, following their directions to complete nursing tasks. During my time as a Student Nurse I became competent in performing ECG's, pressure injury scales, QADDS and BGL monitoring which i completed unsupervised at times ensuring I recorded the correct information into patient charts and reported any abnormalities to the RN.

Nurse Assistant

Queensland Health
01.2015 - 10.2021
  • As an Assistant in Nursing my role is mainly to assist consumers in Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) this includes promoting good oral and personal hygiene by aiding patients with shaving, bathing, and teeth brushing. Personal hygiene needs; showering, bed baths, shaving, dressing, toileting and changing of continence aids.
  • I ensure call lights are answered promptly to support patient comfort and safety by adjusting bed rails and equipment to tranfer consumers from bed to chair or other locations using correct techniques. With direct and indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse I also collect patient vitals such as temperature, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels as required.
