Simon Dawson

Waratah,NSW

Summary

My name is Simon Dawson, I am 39 years old and a proud Anewan man from Armidale NSW. I attended The Armidale School and completed the Higher School Certificate in 2002. I started an apprenticeship, and completed the Cert III Carpentry and Joinery on the Gold Coast Qld working for Biga Pty Ltd.

I am a Correctional Officer skilled in maintaining order by enforcing rules and regulations in prison and jail settings. Handles difficult inmates and high-pressure situations with sound judgment and reasoned thinking demonstrated over 13 year industry history. I have a history of exercising sound judgment and reasoned thinking during crisis events, developing strong rapport with prisoners and colleagues. I have excellent command of safety, security and emergency management protocols.

Despite enjoying my work, I feel I have achieved everything I wanted to in a correctional environment and am now looking for a new challenge and career path to see me through to retirement. I would like to remain in the local area, as I am very family focused and want to stay close to them. I feel that I would be of value to the mining industry as I am reliable, eager to learn new skills, self-motivated and consider WHS principles as paramount to safety of all staff. At the end of the day, we all want to return to our families safely.
