My secondment into the role of Director, Claims was for a four-month period to allow for my Manager to prepare for Scheme Reform
This role required me to lead and manage the performance of the Claims Division specifically focused on improving the overall scheme performance across RTW and liability management
This role and my previous WorkSafe roles have enabled me to develop effective partnerships and relationships with senior management in WorkCover Agents, Medical Panel, WIC and other key internal and external stakeholders
This role also provided me the opportunity to engage strategically with Board, ELT and SLT on scheme performance matters and risk, including scheme valuation responses and programs
In this role my major achievements have been:
Lead and implemented the development of the 2023/24 APA
Active lead in a number of Government engagement meetings – Victoria Police, DET etc
Claims Division achieving 70% in the 2023 WorkSafe EOS (increase of 14% on 2022 result).

Manager - Entitlements
My role has has evolved significantly over time and is now accountable for the oversight of a worker’s entitlement, including assessment of a worker’s initial or ongoing entitlement and the quality and sustainability of any decision to deny or cease a worker’s entitlements
Entitlements include all claim cohorts from initial liability, the second entitlement period, Long Tail and Impairment Benefits
The role is also required to develop and implement business plans from an operational perspective and align internal and external resources to lead targeted projects and programs, including the Recovery and Return to Work program
The role has also required me to provide high level briefings at Executive and Senior Leadership meetings and external stakeholder forums, influencing key stakeholders (both internal and external) on proposed strategies and negotiating and resolving areas of conflict

Continued improvements and enhancements to scheme decision making performance through the Quality Decision Making Measure
Successful implementation of Ombudsman recommendations post both the 2016 and 2019 reports
Delivery of key legislative change – Provisional Payments, Presumptive and Silicosis
Management and coordination of the Alfred Occupational Respiratory Clinic

Being recognised on a number of occasions through Reward and Recognition for the quality of my work completed.
I commenced in this role shortly after the 2016 Ombudsman report was delivered and I was responsible for implementing the recommendations within agreed timeframes
Not long after commencing this role I was responsible for responding to a number of traumatic events (2017 Bourke Street, 2017 Flinders Street and 2018 Bourke Street), which required WorkSafe and myself respond to deal with these incidents and provide the required support to victims and their families

My role as Manager – Eligibility & Dispute Resolution was to manage the day to day operations of the Eligibility and Conciliation Teams
This team consisted of 24 direct and indirect reports, consisting of Senior Legal Manager, Dispute Resolution Managers and Eligibility Officers
The Eligibility Team was a new team created in 2011 as part of the WorkSafe Enhanced Agency Model
I was responsible for generating a workable structure, establishing efficient processes, designing new job descriptions and targets and designing reporting to maximise performance
The Allianz Eligibility Team has been recognised as the Scheme leader over the last 4 years and was also a finalist in the WorkSafe Industry Support Service Awards for “Outstanding Contribution by a Team”
In this role my major achievements were:
The team achieved maximum income over 4 financial years in the Initial Eligibility Quality Measure
The team achieving 95% in the 2014 Allianz Engagement Survey, measuring the culture and morale within the team
This was the highest team score at Allianz
Being awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation from Worksafe Directors for presenting at the National WorkCover Forum on the success of the Enhanced Agency Model
In this role I was able to utilise my excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise and negotiate with Allianz Senior Management, Worksafe Directors and staff, Accident Compensation Conciliation Service, my direct reports and all Workers Compensation stakeholders, including employers and injured workers.
