Examples Of Matters

  • CJM Innotrack Pty Ltd v Workers' Compensation Regulator & Anor [2020] QIRC 171. This case was an appeal against the decision of Workers compensation Regulator. I was instructing Solicitor for the second respondent and the appeal was ultimately dismissed which allowed my client to access his rights to bring a claim under common law and he was also awarded costs.
  • I had sole conduct of and acted for a plaintiff who was injured at work while working at a funeral home. I instructed Counsel and attended and represented this client at a compulsory conference, but it failed to resolve. Ultimately, we filed proceedings in the Court and attended a mediation where the matter was resolved for $151,000.00.
  • I had sole conduct of and acted for a plaintiff in a claim for medical negligence where the Plaintiff suffered the loss of his eye as a result of professional negligence in that the medical professional failed to refer. Obtained the relevant expert opinion in support of the action and the matter resolved at compulsory conference for the sum of $160,000.00 plus costs
  • I have acted for numerous claimants/plaintiffs for injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents where liability is admitted. I was also responsible for matters where liability and quantum are in dispute. I often briefed Counsel but have also conducted settlement conferences myself.
  • Acted for a Plaintiff in a Workcover and Public Liability matter where the Plaintiff was injured at a premises that was not controlled by her employer and so actions were brought under the Workers compensation legislation and the Personal Injuries Proceeding Act 2002. I had sole conduct of the matter, briefed counsel and undertook the negotiations. Matter reached settlement on terms favorable to the client in the sum of $180,000.00.
  • Acted for two minors by their litigation guardian in a litigated dispute in Equity against a Superannuation company and the Executor of the Estate of the children’s deceased father. I had sole conduct and briefed Counsel in the matter. The matter eventually reached a compromise that was sanctioned by the Supreme Court. The compromise saw that the children received the majority of their late father’s death benefit.
  • Acted for an applicant in a family provision claim on the applicant’s father’s deceased estate. The deceased had left the majority of his estate to charity leaving his daughter a very small sum despite her having provided him with care for many years. I had sole conduct and briefed Counsel. The matter was eventually resolved by mediation that took place via zoom with the applicant residing in Europe at the time.
