I am thoroughly enjoying my nursing career. I enjoyed working in Aged Care. My current job has given me another perspective to enhance my skills and to work midst of challenging environment. Keeping my skills and knowledge up-to-date is of high importance to me and keep growing in my profession is of utmost importance for me.
I consider nursing to extend beyond caring for a person when they are unwell. To be an excellent nurse, I believe that I must have a sound understanding of myself and my own culture, this then enables me to cater to the needs of the clients and understand more deeply about their cultures. I am a strong advocate of nursing to have a partnership approach, including the patient and family in all aspects of their care. Personally, I find appropriate humour and laughter is a key for breaking down barrier between the nurse and patient, along with the ethos that a smile shared with one person, can make two person’s day. To provide safe and competent nursing care, a holistic approach must be taken.
