Coordinator Human Resources

In these key leadership roles I am responsible for leading, coaching and developing the operational management of the HR functions through proactive and solution focused partnerships that produce high quality people management outcomes for the organisations.

Recent key achievements:

Enterprise Agreement

  • Led negotiator for the 2021 (Hobsons Bay) and 2022 and 2025 (Maribyrnong) Enterprise Agreements, including undertaking associated industrial relations requirements
  • Consolidation of Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong's Enterprise Agreements with the Victorian Local Authorities Award and Nurses Modern Award

Aged Care Reforms

  • In 2018, 2019 and 2024, responsible for ensuring Council's industrial relations and employment law obligations through various stages of the Aged Care reforms. Including managing the Transfer of Business for in-home support services to Uniting Aged Well

HR Business Partner Model

  • Developed a framework for the HR Business Partner Model and embedded the model at Hobsons City in 2020 and Maribyrnong in 2023
  • Develop, coach and lead the HR Business Partner team

Restructures, Industrial Relations and Employee Relations

  • Amalgamation of the Libraries and Community Centre department with the Customer Service unit during 2021 and 2022. Restructure of the department and implementation of a new service delivery model - Council+. Responsible for the management of the industrial and employee relations aspects of the restructure and change management process
  • Managed the industrial and employee relations aspects of the 2019 organisational structure. Council moved from four to three directorates during this restructure
  • Managed introduction of major change process for restructures across both Council's
  • Manage numerous significant and complex performance management, disciplinary, termination, and reportable conduct matters
  • Case preparation and represented the organisation in numerous cases in the Fair Work Commission, Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission, VCAT and WorkCover Conciliation Tribunals
  • Supporting and coaching managers and supervisors to achieve positive and desired people management outcomes

Systems and Policies

  • Managed the design, build and implementation of two recruitment and onboarding systems - Mercury and Big Red Sky
  • Managed the design, build and implementation of various HRIS modules into the Payroll System
  • Recent policy development and implementation to enure Council meets it's legislative obligations
  • Led the development and implementation of Corporate Induction programs

Change Management and Engagement

  • Led staff engagement initiatives across the organisation - annual staff engagement surveys, leadership development programs
  • Activity Based Working (ABW) - responsible for the facilitation of staff consultation sessions and the development and implementation of ABW protocols
  • COVID-19 Pandemic response - in conjunction with the Manager People and Culture and Safety Specialist, responsible for managing pandemic response efforts such as worker permits, COVID Safe Plans, redeploying staff in community facing services (libraries etc) into other areas of Council, implementing vaccination mandates, member of Council's pandemic response committee (ORC)
  • Universal annual review period - in conjunction with the Manager People and Culture, introduced a universal annual review period and electronic annual review system - H2.0 Performance. Lead HR Business Partners to support the organisation to complete annual reviews, with a 98% completion rate for 2020 and 2021

Additional Functions

  • Regularly act in the Manager People and Culture role during periods of leave. Acted in the role for three months (January-March 2022) while manager was seconded into another position
  • From 2019-2021, the Safety and Wellbeing unit at Hobsons Bay reported into my role, requiring the recruitment of a new team and establishing new systems, policies, procedures and the OHS Strategy
  • In 2022, the Payroll unit joined the HR department at Hobsons Bay, focusing on Payroll System automation and improving the integrity of data
