Summary

Recent graduate of Gilmore College in 2021 with a School Based Traineeship facilitated by the Kwinana Industries Council in Metals and Engineering, In doing so I acquired Cert II in Engineering. I was Immersed in a mature work environment with skilled tradespeople, gaining invaluable skills. Balanced school and work placement over two years while attending South Metropolitan TAFE to enhance knowledge and expertise in the field.

Coogee chemicals
  • Duties included but not restricted to: Maintenance/servicing of Road Trains - all filters and fluids
  • Inspection and maintenance of road trailers and dollies
  • Checking brakes/wheel bearings and adjusting or replacing as necessary
  • General maintenance and repairs including replacement of bushes, pins, seals and greasing as required
  • Following all company policies and procedures in relation to workplace health/safety ensuring correct use of all PPE as required.

Austal ships
  • Duties included but not restricted to: Installation of fresh air ducting and insulation
  • Correct fitment of ball valves, black water and freshwater pipelines
  • Fabrication of ducting for installation
  • Fabricating brackets for mounting of pipelines and ducting
  • Use of task specific PPE as required for use with hazardous materials and substances following MSDS requirements for correct handling and storage

Alcoa Kwinana Refinery
  • Duties Included but not restricted to: Analysing isometric working drawings to complete tasks, adhering to all QA-QC and ITP
  • Fabrication and welding of structural components as required by clients
  • Refurbishment of Squealer/Worman pumps, rebuilding butterfly and ball valves
  • Servicing and maintenance of Regulators, control boxes for flow lines
  • Working within an extremely hazardous environment following all safety policies and procedures is paramount, as is the use of correct PPE specific for each task ensuring a safe working environment.

Basic Scaffolder

  • Duties included but not restricted to: Basing out system scaffolding and ensuring structural integrity of the scaffold, erecting full wraps during the construction of high-rise apartment accommodation, modifying scaffold as required by the client
  • Constructing edge protection on the top story of high rise buildings, adhering to engineered isometric drawings for design
  • Mobile scaffolding access, stair/ladder assesses were also part of the tasks I undertook
  • Organisation and general housekeeping of the scaffolding components within the laydown yard and on site
  • Working out of the barge and in the water to complete scaffolding droppies and cliff-hanger scaffolds required for the restoration of pre-existing piles on the wharfs, preparing for extension
  • Implementing and ensuring all aspects of safe systems of work for each individual task
  • Utilising administrative paperwork to ensure all hazards are identified and risks are mitigated creating a zero-harm working environment.

Landscaper/labourer

  • Duties included but not restricted to: Installation of astro turf and sowing of natural lawn
  • Constructing limestone/retaining walls, complete back yard restorations, including secure fencing (Colour Bond), including pool fencing to meet WA regulations and standards

  • Temporary fence erection around hazardous work fronts and construction sites
