09/30/2019, 11/01/2019, Pathology, St George Hospital, Kogarah, NSW, Student, Worked alongside pathology collectors who performed venipuncture on outpatients. I was trained in the technique of palpation and anchoring the vein. To use a winged, butterfly needle and straight needle, positioning the needle and assessing and troubleshooting difficult veins and when the blood flow stems. I was able to perform successful blood collections on outpatients. I was able to assist pathology collectors with children, infants. I had the ability to put the patient at ease, communicate the procedure and I gained consent.
