Work History

Food Courier

4 Years 5 Months
Just Eat UK | Barnstaple, Devon | 02.2022 - 07.2026

With my desire to travel as much as i could at that moment in time, i decided to take on this role in the gig economy as it is a self-employed position. The regular work enabled me to build the funds to do one of my biggest passions reasonably regularly and then recently, save up to get the working holiday visa to come to Australia.

  • Collaborated with restaurant partners to resolve issues and enhance service quality.
  • Maintained a high level of professionalism while interacting with customers for successful food deliveries.
  • Demonstrated exceptional time management skills, consistently meeting or exceeding target delivery times for both pick-up and drop-off tasks.

Hostel Worker

2 Months
Lockside Hostel | Inverness, Scotland | 06.2021 - 08.2021

With the restrictions of the pandemic slowly easing, i decided to take some summer work away in Scotland at the Lockside Hostel in Inverness.

My role was to help clean the rooms, kitchen and bathrooms so the guests checking in that day alongside the ones already there, had the cleanest facilities possible to enjoy their stay.

  • Coordinated housekeeping schedules to maintain cleanliness standards throughout the facility.
  • Developed and maintained positive relationships with guests to enhance overall satisfaction.
  • Provided exceptional customer service, addressing guest inquiries and resolving issues promptly.

Factory Worker/Shop Assistant

2 Years 4 Months
Next Steps Development | Barnstaple, Devon | 07.2017 - 11.2019

This role largely entailed helping young adults with additional needs grow confidence and feel more ready for the world of work.

My position started in the factory where we built tables and chairs for customers and at one point went to Glasgow and back to deliver for their university.

A year into the role they opened a shop which due to my previous retail experience asked me to move over to, to which i later became assistant manager before leaving the role in late 2019.

  • Collaborated with team members to achieve production targets within tight deadlines.
  • Ensured stock on the shelves as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Helped customers with any queries they had while visiting the shop.

Clothes Tagger and Steamer

2 Years
British Heart Foundation | Barnstaple, Devon | 07.2015 - 07.2017

Tagged and steamed clothing items to prepare them for display on the shelves at the British Heart Foundation.

  • Enhanced customer satisfaction by accurately Tagged clothing items for display on the sales floor. clothes and ensuring proper organization on the sales floor.
  • Steamed clothes to a high satisfaction ready for them to hit the shop floor.
  • Collaborated with team members to get the clothes out as quickly as possible.

Volunteer

3 Months
Raleigh International | Costa Rica And Nicaragua | 01.2013 - 04.2013

With Bulgaria enhancing my passion for travel and experiencing the world and other cultures, once an opportunity arrived to spend 10 weeks in Costa Rica and Nicaragua i felt it was something i needed to grab with both hands.

Out there we had 3 separate projects. The first was an environmental project where we built a path in Cabo Blanco National Park. The path enabled a smoother visit for future visitors to the area, as well as access to areas that were unobtainable prior to the path being built.

The second project was up in Northern Nicaragua, in a community village called Mata Palo. Our role was to dig up the ground to enable water pipes to be placed under, allowing the community access to safe and clean water.

The third and final project was a trek across Costa Rica that lasted 3 weeks and it was a challenge that i feel has helped my endurance and mental strength to get through future testing times, as i believe the challenges faced during these weeks are still to this day the hardest i have ever faced.

General Helper

2 Years 4 Months
Young Devon | Bideford, Devon | 09.2010 - 01.2013

After meeting one of the leaders of the development team of Young Devon during the trip to Bulgaria, i was offered the chance to come and help out in her office shortly afterwards.

My role required a lot of versatility, as i was there to help make life easier for the managers. A few of my roles included painting the back room, making the drinks, getting the lunches and helping out leading a group of year 9 schoolchildren who arrived on a course every Monday for one term.

  • Versatility to do whatever job was required to make life easier for the managers.
  • Patience when i helped lead the group of school children, as some of them were troubled and needed more understanding.
  • Maintained cleanliness and organization of work areas, contributing to efficient operations.

Shop Assistant

1 Year 4 Months
Trelawney Garden Centre | Barnstaple, Devon | 04.2009 - 08.2010

I initially started this role as work experience for my college course. But after the college year ended i wanted to stay and work here, and got offered a permanent position.

My main role was helping out on the main shop floor, but occasionally would help out in the landscaping or plant areas outside. I believe this job was valuable in helping set me up in the real world after education.

  • Completed daily tasks accurately and on-time to support shop needs.
  • Assisted customers in locating items, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  • Helped managers with daily checklists and last-minute requirements.

Volunteer

1 Month
Young Devon | Vratza, Bulgaria | 06.2010 - 07.2010

Living in one of Young Devon's supported houses, the opportunity came along to volunteer in an orphanage in Bulgaria for 2 weeks, although it felt a big step to leave the country (as i didn't much at that point) i also recognised chances like this do not come along every day.

On this project i didn't get the role i required. I wanted to paint the outside pavement and staircase but instead i was given the role of the inside stairwell. That i felt was a key experience to me about how the team comes before you, and sometimes, that means doing a role different to the one you would ideally want.

  • Collaborating with fellow volunteers to ultimately make life better for the children residing in the orphanage.
  • Interacting with the children in the orphanage as best you can given the language barrier.
  • Adapting to a new country and culture outside to work.
