Emergency Department

• Support the admission process by collecting patient medical histories, performing initial assessments, and prioritizing care based on the severity of their condition.
• Continuously observe patients, document vital signs, and swiftly identify and escalate any critical changes in their condition to ensure timely intervention (MET calls)
• Assist with procedural sedation, develop competency in seizure management, perform IV cannulation, and acquire effective de-escalation techniques to manage patient interactions.
• Collaborate with emergency physicians, nurses, paramedics, and allied health professionals to ensure efficient, well-coordinated, and patient-centered care.
• Strengthen clinical judgment by assessing rapidly changing patient conditions and actively participating in high-pressure decision-making processes in emergency situations.

South 6 - Rehabilitation

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments (Such as FRAT, Braden Scale and Neurological Assessments) on my five-patient
• Administer prescribed medications safely and accurately, monitor for potential adverse reactions, and ensure precise documentation in adherence to hospital policies and best practices.
• Assist in wound care procedures, perform pain assessments, and implement evidence-based pain management strategies to support optimal healing and patient comfort.
• Work collaboratively with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to assist patients with mobility exercises, transfers, and activities of daily living, promoting functional independence and recovery.
• Provide compassionate care by offering emotional support, reassurance, and motivation to patients as they navigate the physical and psychological challenges of rehabilitation and recovery.

Emergency Department l 200 hours

• Support ambulance handover processes by observing and recording patient history, measuring vital signs, and ensuring the accurate exchange of information.
• Closely monitor patients, especially those in critical or unstable conditions, and immediately communicate any changes to the nursing or medical team to facilitate prompt medical intervention.
• Offer emotional support to patients and their families, assisting in the explanation of medical procedures and treatment plans to improve their understanding and comfort.
• Observe and learn from experienced healthcare professionals to develop knowledge of various medical conditions, emergency care protocols, and best practices in acute care settings.
• Acquire skills in emergency medical procedures, including correct administration techniques, dosage calculations, and essential patient care steps. Additionally, gain hands-on experience in preparing and administering emergency medications such as epinephrine and atropine.

Ward 4A Canopy | 200 hours

• Pediatric general medicine, specialist medicine, respiratory, oncology and hematology services
• Was responsible for a full four-patient load
• Responsible for administering both oral and intravenous medication, inserting and removing Nasogastric Tubes, conducting blood gases and removal of intravenous catheters
• Conducted comprehensive respiratory assessments
• Provide the patient's parent education on conducting Basic Life Support
• Observed administration of medication via a PICC and how to Heparin

CCU | 120 hours

• Residential Mental Health rehabilitation facility
• 1:1 observation of a patient at risk of experiencing serotonin syndrome
• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessment

Surgical Ward | 120 hours

• Urology, ENT and Orthopedics surgical ward
• Took care of 2 patient load
• Administered feeds via a Nasogastric and PEG tube, prepared and administered subcutaneous, intravenous and oral medication
• Collected blood successfully for pathology
• Observed in tracheostomy care, removal of PCNL, insertion of male IDC, and administration of blood products

Ground South Ward | 120 hours

• Orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation
• Conducted alcohol withdrawal assessment, falls risk assessments, postural hypertension assessments
• Conducted Aseptic wound redressing and wound assessments

Ward South 6 | 80 hours

• Orthopedic and General Aged Rehabilitation
• Assisted patients with their ADL's, monitoring and documenting vital signs using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Observed nurses dispense medications and assist in patient care, become familiar with effective time-management skills
