Tom Walklate

I am a motivated, outgoing, conscientious person who thrives when working within a team but can deliver individually equally. I am an approachable person who is polite and will always go the extra mile for myself and for peers, customers, and clients. I always aim to perform to a consistently high standard and ensure that I make the best out of every situation. I have gained valuable work experience and worked hard in developing workplace skills and employer’s trust and I have demonstrated myself as a valued team member and colleague.

• Lab Experience: During my three years at NTU studying sport and exercise science I have accumulated 100s of hours in a clinical lab setting testing athletes using various performance tests ranging from taking blood to maximal exercise tests.
• Health and Wellbeing knowledge: As a keen sportsman, exercise scientist and Holland and Barrett employee I have a keen interest in enhancing sporting performance, general wellbeing and health. Knowledge on supplementation, exercise testing and prescription as well as disease and illnesses.
• Team player: I have gained experience participating as a committed and dedicated team player not only playing a variety of sports, representing my school, club and county. But also working within teams in the workplace.
• Communication and Language skills: Working in retail has greatly improved my communication skills as these businesses demand such a high quality of customer service. I have demonstrated these skills when communicating complex medicines, supplements and bodily processes to the general public.
• Leadership: Since becoming an experienced keyholder at Holland and Barrett I have had to command a team in order for a store to operate smoothly and achieve targets.
• Drive and Ambition: Always try to achieve my best. In every role I undertake I always aim to become the best I can be. I am determined to succeed and grow.
• Confidence: Always ready to put myself out there. Not afraid to leave my comfort zone to better myself.
• Working under pressure: I thrive in a fast-paced environment. Every role I have undertaken previously has required a level head when under pressure and I always aim to hit my targets.

• Badminton coaching: I had a major role in coaching badminton and creating clubs for young players within the school to participate. Watching players develop and enjoy the sport under my supervision was very rewarding.
• Key member of the team: During my tenures at HoF and Holland and Barrett, I have consistently surpassed targets set by management and am often recognised by the company for my efforts.
