Summary

My role as Group Executive of ARTC’s Hunter Valley Network, involves leading a team of around 500 people to maximize the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the network.

I hold extensive experience across Australia’s resources, freight, and logistics industries – including mining, port and rail operations – I consider that I excel at leading change within complex operational and multi-stakeholder environments.

I’m passionate about creating inclusive environments and building a team of dynamic leaders, who thoughtfully challenge our systems and processes to develop a safer, more effective, and diverse workplaces.

I am a senior executive with more than 15 years leadership experience across Australia’s resources, freight, and logistics industries, including mine, port, and rail operations. I joined ARTC in 2015 where I’ve also held other senior roles in customer service, operations, and innovation.

In addition to the commercial and operational performance of the Hunter Valley Network – which facilitates the movement of around 220 trains on average every day and contributes around 70% of ARTC's bottom line, I oversee customer service and business development, asset management, compliance and safety, environment, and community activities.

Accomplishments

  • Growing the leadership capability of the Hunter Valley team who, in turn have led improved safety maturity and service delivery, setting world benchmark standards in performance whilst authentically making a difference in the areas of gender equality, reconciliation with first Australians and our social license efforts with a genuine sense of community stewardship (2022).
  • Negotiation and implementation of a commercially agreed service-based agreement with Customers within a multi-dimensional regulatory context (2021).
  • Contribute to the business wide service transformation and functions centered around the Customer value at ARTC (2019).
  • Lead a project team from across the supply chain on transformative design thinking and integration framework for the future operation of the Hunter Valley Coal Chain (2012).
  • Lead the transition of the Greenfield operation (NCIG) from construction, satisfying the financiers of preparedness and commissioning the operation with fully recruited team on time and budget (2010).
  • Leading the Production team at Blair Athol to exceed critical business targets in a dynamic and challenging period (GFC) whilst preparing for mine closure and being awarded the most improved safety outcomes across Rio Tinto over this few years.
