Growing up in a musical family, I entered the Sichuan Conservatory of Music of China to study musicology and music education for my undergraduate degree and master degree with outstanding academic performance. I was awarded the National Scholarship for Outstanding Student.
Based on my three years of experience as a music teacher in China, I became conscious of a desire to pursue higher academic knowledge. It prompted me to choose a second Master degree at the University of Melbourne. My two-year experience at the University of Melbourne’s School of Education gave me a solid foundation in pedagogy as well as a broader perspective on my studies.
I have a strong sense of social responsibility and have years of experience in serving charitable art education as a volunteer in earthquake-stricken areas, an orphan asylum, and a haemophilia charity. All of these special experiences have provided me with the research basis for my PhD project.
Years of experience working with children have given me the advantage of affinity and patience in communicating with others. With a solid background and a rich research experience in arts education, plus my courage, diligence, and perseverance, I am eager to further my knowledge and enrich my experience to be a devoted arts educator in the future. Completing a PhD degree requires strong research skills and rich experiences working in the local society. Therefore, I am eager to attend this program so that I can be fully prepared for my future journey.
