My Name is Abbey - I am a Registered Nurse entering my 6th year caring for babies and young people. I am extremely passionate about my job and take great pride in working extremely hard to provide the highest quality care to my patients and their families. Since I began my nursing career, my goal has always been to be able to support, advocate and provide compassion, kindness, and amazing care to those who find themselves going through the difficult experience of a hospital admission. I strive to be a positive force not only to my patients, but also for my colleagues and workplace. I believe that teamwork, and a positive culture in nursing and healthcare enables us to not only perform better, but to provide better care for our patients. I believe in integrity, respect and safety in the workplace and always hope to lead by example. I am extremely passionate about education in Nursing and empowering other nurses/students to learn and grow while feeling supported to do so. I believe in educating with kindness and positivity, and always staying open to others’ opinions, advice or personal experiences. I believe we are all, always learning, and it is important to appreciate this, and never stop learning. I have been so lucky to be taught and supported in this way by my own mentors and fellow nurses and hope that now, I might be able to share my knowledge, skills, and kindness with others. I am hoping to be considered for a CPF role, in the BCFC ward reconfiguration and be able to combine my passion for providing amazing care to the neonatal/infant population, and support/teach others, new to this cohort to be confident to do the same.
