- Lead and manage Strike Force teams in investigations into high level criminal offences involving death and serious injuries across NSW.
- Liaise with Government agencies such as Family and Community Services, Office of the Children's Guardian and NSW Ombudsman as required during investigations, to ensure the wellbeing of vulnerable persons and young persons.
- Train, manage and lead other investigators during complex, multi agency investigations to ensure proper procedure and safety and wellbeing of any victims of crime, including the welfare of young persons.
- Supervisory duties as the Statewide Referral Officer, point of contact for all fatal motor vehicle crashes within NSW. Responsible for reviewing, making determination on crime scenes and managing resource responses across the State.
- Develop risk based investigation processes during investigations to ensure fair and balanced outcomes.
- Conduct thorough face-to-face interviews with employers, families, neighbour's, friends, and suspects, and document investigative findings.
- Collect, analyse and interpret information, documentation, and physical evidence associated with investigations.
- Prepare complex briefs of evidence to the Local, District and Coronial Courts.
- Review complex investigations and initiate appropriate courses of action, including legal proceedings when required.
- Ensure compliance with legal regulations during investigations, minimising risk for litigation or procedural errors.
- Maintain current knowledge of laws, regulations and procedures involving criminal offences.
- Supervise and motivate field investigators and collaborate with personnel to identify strengths and areas of weakness.
